Welcome in Miner! Prepare yourself for the Metaverse Rush with Pickaxe Master Mining Seasons.
You will find here all you need to know about the rules and the competition, get yourself comfortable and ready for a quick read.

1 — General Guidelines
On the 12th of February, the Beta Mining Season of the Pickaxe Master will have it’s debut in The Sandbox live map. The road to the final version continues and once again the most epic Miners are about to be forged within the heart of the Misty Mountain!
The Beta Mining Season will be a special Season, as the previous one. All gameplay has been revisited and improved based on the feedback from the previous Season.
The Beta Mining Season will run in 2 Phases:
— Preparation Phase: Until Leaderboards are available.
— Main Phase: 2 Months.
Why 2 Phases and not call it different Seasons? Well, for the Beta Mining Season we have learned something important from the previous one, which are the small adjustments that are needed in the first weeks. We are already anticipating all your valuable feedback and we want to include it before the Main Phase starts. On top of that, with the in-game Leaderboard feature, all Highscores will be automatically updated into the Leaderboard, which is an amazing upgrade to the competition. We know that feature is coming early 2024, and it makes sense that the main stage of Beta Mining Season officially starts once that feature is live and available to use.
1.1 — Preparation Phase.
Preparation Phase:
— Start: 12th February.
— End: TBA (Leaderboard feature is released on The Sandbox Game Maker).
At launch, it won’t be possible to track automatically all the results from the mining sessions, due to the lack of the leaderboard feature, and we’ve learned from the past experience that running a Leaderboard manually isn’t an optimized format for both community and moderators.
Having that in mind, and knowing that the first weeks will be filled with valuable feedback, we decided to include it in a conscious way that already foresees these events.
So what will happen during the Preparation Phase what can you do during this period?
First, there will be a small competition for Avatar and Pickaxe Owners, which rules are very simple:
— Each Piece of armor crafted = 1 Point
— Each Role obtained = 1 Point
— Amount of Masters will be the tie breaker.
All it requires is to take a screenshot, it will show how many pieces of armor you’ve crafted, how many roles you’ve unlocked and how many Masters you’ve gathered, check the screenshot below for reference.
Once you’ve got your Screenshot ready, all it takes is to post on our Discord Server in the general chat. If you aren’t part of the Discord server, here’s the link to join: https://discord.com/invite/5N7C8vhunx
There will be a Top 10 with ranked prizes, this leaderboard will be manually updated in the Discord server at the #leaderboard tab.
All it requires to participate, is that you have either a Pickaxe or an Avatar from our collection.
There is a 1250 SAND prize pool for the preparation phase that will be distributed:
— 1st Place: 200 SAND
— 2nd Place: 170 SAND
— 3rd Place: 145 SAND
— 4th Place: 130 SAND
— 5th Place: 125 SAND
— 6th Place: 120 SAND
— 7th Place: 110 SAND
— 8th Place: 95 SAND
— 9th Place: 85 SAND
— 10th Place: 70 SAND
While playing, if you break your previous record, you can post a new screenshot on the Discord server and your highscore will be updated.
Once the Leaderboard feature get’s available on the Game Maker, the Preparation Phase will end and there will be a 2 week interruption for us to implement all the collected feedback, and to get the update on the website to sort and display the rankings from the Leaderboard.
The rewards will be distributed and the Main Phase will begin.
1.2 — Main Phase.
Main Phase:
— Start: 1–2 Weeks after Preparation Phase ended.
— Ends: 2 Months after being launched.
The Main Phase is where the competition gets to another level, this time there will be 8 different leaderboards that you can rank on, including Free to Play, Pickaxe and Avatars Owners and Clans. — Everyone is included!
With an astonishing total of 10.000 SAND prizes distributed across these Leaderboards, you will have plenty of chances to get in the prized rankings. One of the biggest changes from last Season, is to reward 70% of all participants, resulting in a bigger chance for everyone to end in the prized rankings.

2 — How to Play.

Once you’re inside the game, you’ll start off in the Tutorial area which will teach you the basics how to play the game.
— You’ll start the game with 2000 “Masters” and this is what you will be looking for to rank in the Leaderboard. The more Masters you get, the higher you’ll be in the Rankings.
— To get “Masters” you must mine blocks for resources, each type of block contains a different set of rewards, as well a different mining cost:
· Sand Block — 10 Pickaxe Health
· Dirt Block — 20 Pickaxe Health
· Clay Block — 40 Pickaxe Health
· Gravel Block — 80 Pickaxe Health
· Stone Block — 160 Pickaxe Health
· Magma Block — 320 Pickaxe Health
- To mine, you’ll need Pickaxe Health, otherwise the tip of your Pickaxe will get broken and nothing valuable will come from that block. You can buy more Pickaxe Health on the entrance of the Misty Mountain with Oggil Thotop:
· Iron Pickaxe — 100 Masters — 100 Pickaxe Health
· Silver Pickaxe — 500 Masters — 500 Pickaxe Health
· Gold Pickaxe — 1000 Masters — 1000 Pickaxe Health
· Ruby Pickaxe — 2000 Masters — 2000 Pickaxe Health
· Diamond Pickaxe — 10000 Masters — 10000 Pickaxe Health
- From the minable blocks, you can get different types of resources. Inside the vault, you can find Dans Tremas that will trade your Resources for Masters:
Each resource has it’s own value:
· Coal — 10 Masters
· Iron — 20 Masters
· Copper — 40 Masters
· Silver Ore — 80 Masters
· Silver Nugget — 160 Masters
· Gold Ore — 320 Masters
· Gold Nugget — 640 Masters
· Emerald — 1280 Masters
· Sapphire — 2560 Masters
· Ruby — 5120 Masters
· White Diamond — 10240 Masters
· Blue Diamond — 20480 Masters
· Red Diamond — 40960 Masters
2.1 — Highscores.
For the Beta Mining Season, the Leaderboard system will be run automatically with the Leaderboard feature provided by The Sandbox. We are still to confirm how they will be displayed, once we get closer to the feature roll out, there will be more details on the leaderboard display.
For you to register your Highscore, all you have to do is to go to our website https://thepickaxemaster.io/ and create an account there, make sure you’re using the same nickname as your TSB Account so the Leaderboard can fetch your score from the Sandbox Website.
The Highscore will be based on how much “Masters” you have when you finish your game — This can be found in your HUD in the top left corner as displayed in the image below.
3 — Leaderboards.
3.1 — Free to Play.
The Free to Play Leaderboards are an inclusive competition where everyone can get involved in the game. While it has no requirements to participate, it gives the chance to everyone to earn SAND prizes by playing the game.
The competition is ranked through the final score of the “Masters” — The more you can accumulate, the higher you will rank!

This Season, the rewards have multiplied! There are now 1000 SAND to be won on the Free to Play competition, so come and DIG IT!
3.2 — Pickaxe Access.
For the Pickaxe Mining Rankings, your final Highscore is the same as the one in the Free to Play mode, but you’ll get access to Exclusive Prizes pools according to the rarity of the Pickaxe you own!
There are 5 different Leaderboard Tiers. Each Mining Tier is unlocked by the Rarity of the Pickaxe, and it always unlocks the Tiers below. For Example: A Rare Pickaxe unlocks Common Tier, Uncommon Tier and Rare Tier.
This Season, there are 700 SAND in prizes to be distributed for each Tier, totalizing a 3500 SAND Prize Pool!
You will need to own a Pickaxe NFT at the end of the Season to be eligible for the prize distribution.

Common Mining Tier — 700 SAND Total Prize Pool — Wooden Pickaxe, Iron Pickaxe, Silver Pickaxe, Gold Pickaxe, Ruby Pickaxe, Diamond Pickaxe, Pickaxe Pendant.
Uncommon Mining Tier — 700 SAND Total Prize Pool — Silver Pickaxe, Gold Pickaxe, Ruby Pickaxe, Diamond Pickaxe, Pickaxe Pendant.
Rare Mining Tier — 700 SAND Total Prize Pool — Gold Pickaxe, Ruby Pickaxe, Diamond Pickaxe, Pickaxe Pendant.
Epic Mining Tier — 700 SAND Total Prize Pool — Ruby Pickaxe, Diamond Pickaxe, Pickaxe Pendant.
Legendary Mining Tier — 700 SAND Total Prize Pool — Diamond Pickaxe, Pickaxe Pendant.
Total Prizes — 3500 SAND
3.3 — Avatar Access.
The Avatar Leaderboards are reserved for the Master Tribes Avatar owners, being the Lucky Miners and the Mineral Monarchs the first two to participate.
Players can participate by having an Original or a Loaned Avatar in their wallets.
The Avatar Highscore is calculated like the previous Leaderboards, there are two types of Leaderboards for individual Avatar Owners — Ranked and Guaranteed.
For the Master Tribe Ranked Leaderboard, you’ll be competing for a 1000 SAND prize pool based on your best “Masters” Highscore.
On the Master Tribe Guaranteed Leaderboard, there isn’t a ranking on this category, all it takes to be eligible is to reach an highscore of 5000 Master points.
The total prize pool will be distributed among all the Avatar owners that have reached the minimum eligible highscore of 5000 Master points. If a Player owns more than 1 Avatar, he will receive the amount for how many Avatars he owns.
For the Master Tribe Guaranteed Leaderboard, there is an exclusive prize pool worth of 1000 SAND.
In total, there are 2000 SAND in rewards for the Master Tribes individual Rankings!
3.4 — Clan Access.
The Clan Leaderboards are a big component of the Pickaxe Master. Our goal is to provide engagement between players, get them to connect with each other and make friends along the way.
For that reason, the Clan Prize Pool has been filled with 3500 SAND to reward the best clans in the Pickaxe Master.
For the Beta Mining Season, we’ve improved the bonus mechanism to give a better opportunity to all types of Clans, so let’s break it down!

Now that you got yourself into a Clan, you are ready to take on the Clan Leaderboard. How are the points calculated for this competition?
As a reminder before starting: Only the members within the Eligible roles will be counted for the Clan highscore.
We’ll explain while giving some context, so we’re using Clan A that has 14 eligible members, out of those 14 members, 4 of them are also Leaders of their own Clan.
How do we get the Clan Final Score? Here’s the formula below:
Clan Average Score + Clan Size Bonus + Sub-Clan Bonus = Clan Final Score
Let’s break it down to find all of those values.
Clan Average Score:
On Clan A, every member will contribute with their personal highscore, this way we can find the sum of all personal scores combined.
From that sum, the first thing to happen is figure out what is the Clan average score, let’s run some fictional numbers to support this tutorial:
Clan A Score: 39604 Points
39604 Points / 14 members = 2828.86 Average Score
Clan Size Score:
After we find the Clan Average Score, the Clan Size Bonus will be added. Here’s the formula to calculate the Clan Size Bonus (Note that only eligible rankings will be affected for the Clan Size bonus):
[(Clan A Score x (0.number of members x 5)) / number of members ]
Which results in
[(39604 x (0.14 x 5))/14] = 1920.20 Clan Size Bonus
So we got the new Clan Score with Size Bonus (SB): 2828.86 + 1920.20 = 4749.06
Clan Bonus Score:
In Clan A example, there are 4 Members that simultaneously Leaders of their own Clans. This brings in the Sub-Clan Bonus, here is the formula to calculate it:
[Clan Size Bonus x 0.number of Sub-Clans]
Which results in
[1920.2 x 0.4] = 792.08 Sub-Clan Bonus
Clan Final Score:
Now that the 2 Bonuses have been calculated, we’ve finally found the Clan Final Score:
Clan Average Score + Clan Size bonus + Sub-Clan Bonus = Clan Final Score
Which results in
2828.86 + 1920.20 + 792.08 = 5541.14 Clan Final Score
Here’s another example using the Clan A.
Example:
Clan A has 25 members. Out of those 25 members, 15 were eligible and only 10 participated with the following results:
— Player 1: 750 Points
— *Player 2: 1780 Points
— Player 3: 7320 Points
— Player 4: 4910 Points
— Player 5: 2350 Points
— Player 6: 1670 Points
— *Player 7: 430 Points
— Player 8: 11460 Points
— Player 9: 6280 Points
— Player 10: 3420 Points
*Player 2 and Player 7 are also Leaders of another Clan.
- Clan Total Points: 40370
— Total Eligible Clan Members: 15 Members.
— Clan Average Score: 2691.3 Points
— Clan Size Bonus: 2018.5 Points
— Sub-Clan Bonus: 403.7 Points
— Final Clan Score: 2691.3 + 2018.5 + 403.7 = 5113.5 Points
4 — Rankings and Prizes.
4.1 — Final Rankings
Now that your highscores are registered and uploaded into the Leaderboard, it comes down to who got the most Masters at the end of the season.
You can play as many times as you wish, strategize your game play and break your records throughout the whole Beta Mining Season.
The distribution of the final rankings will be according to the number of participants.

This distribution above is valid for the number of Clans and Individual Rankings.
4.2 — Prizes
There is a grand total of 11250 SAND prizes distributed along the five major Leaderboards:
— Preparation Phase: 1250 SAND
— Free to Play: 1000 SAND
— Pickaxe Owners: 3500 SAND
— Avatar Owners: 2000 SAND
— Clans: 3500 SAND
You can win at multiple competitions and stack up your prizes, mine your way up to the #1 Place in every leaderboard.
5 — Terms and Conditions.
When the Beta Mining Season is about to end, you will need pass a couple of verifications to validate your entry in the NFT Gated Leaderboards:
— Pickaxe Gated Leaderboards: To be eligible you will need to have the Pickaxe NFT’s in your wallet before the Season ends. Please take in consideration that the website can take up to 1 hour to refresh the list of owners, we advise to get your Pickaxe the day before ending the Season.
- Clan Gated Leaderboard: To be eligible you will need to have a Pickaxe Master Avatar in your wallet before the Season ends, either it’s an Original or Loaned Avatar. Please take in consideration that the website can take up to 1 hour to refresh the list of owners, we advise to get your Pickaxe the day before ending the Season.
The rules are set to be fair and generous, they can and should be improved over time with the contribution of all the players and community, so all the topics above are subject to change whenever a new rule has to be implemented, removed, tweaked or fixed.
